Papa's Birthday Hat
Papa is turning 90 on Sunday and tomorrow we're having a party for him. We've been talking about the party and doing things to prepare for it. Every time it comes up that Papa is having a party, Parker says that Papa needs a party hat. I took him today to the party store to pick out Papa's party hat. He was walking behind me and I didn't see the party hats, I kept walking, looking for them. All of a sudden I hear, "Papa's birthday hat!!!!" He had stopped and found the perfect hat for Papa to wear to his 90th birthday celebration! When he found the hat, he acted as if it was the hat he had pictured in his head all these weeks.
Needless to say, we bought the hat and Parker will be giving it to Papa to wear tomorrow! :)

First Dentist Apt.
I took Parker to his first dentist appointment yesterday. The end of Spring Break Parker was climbing up his slide in the backyard and hit is front two teeth. They didn't bleed a whole lot, but he did complain about them hurting for about 3 days after wards. We dismissed it when he stopped telling us about them hurting, but they started changing colors. They are a light grey. I finally called and got him into see the dentist.
Any guesses on how it went?
It started out great. He was having a great time with the awesome toys in the lobby, but once we went back to the little room he freaked out. He hit his hand on the chair and would say, "I no like to lay there." He didn't understand that they weren't going to make him lay there. (I think he associated the chair laying completely back with the table thing at his ENT's office he had to lay on and I laid on top of him for them to clean his ears.) But basically, they had him in lap, lay back and the dentist checked him out and did an x-ray. His permanent teeth are not damaged and we are to keep an eye on them that they don't start hurting him again, or get loose. We're going back at the end of May for them to examine his full mouth for a regular, routine check-up.

No Tears This Year
I took Parker to see the Easter Bunny this morning. We have been talking about it and trying to prepare him for the picture. At Christmas he was screaming in the picture with Santa, so even though I'm still in the picture and he's not smiling, I'm thrilled he's not crying.
As we were pulling into the mall parking lot this morning, I brought up the Easter Bunny. He asked if he was going to have an egg hunt. I told him no, that we would later this week. I asked him if he was ready for his picture with the Easter Bunny. He said, "I take a picture with him in helmet." I tried to explain that he didn't have a helmet, that he had some big, floppy ears. He was still persistent about him wearing the helmet. I'm not sure what the connection with the bunny and the helmet was. It doesn't matter. What does matter is that he's not crying! :)

Sweet Parker.
Today we were doing some shopping at Sam's and Parker was in the buggie.
I pushing the buggie around and we stopped so Caleb could look at something.
Parker started rubbing my stomach and I said "There's baby."
He said, "I want to kiss baby."
And he did.
My heart melted.
(The kiss came after he tried to pull up my shirt to "see" baby. We're still working on understanding that people don't want to see my stomach in public!)

So Imaginative
This morning we met some of our friends at Tanglewood Park in Bryan. We love, love, love that park. We used to meet there on Wednesday's but haven't done so in a while. There were a lot of other kids at the park enjoying the beautiful weather as well. We had a picnic as well.
When it was time to leave Parker was playing with this big stick. When I first told him it was time to leave, I could tell he was debating putting up a fight to stay longer. He then asked me if he could bring the stick home with him. Of course! On the way home I heard him back there saying, "see my house" and named off a few other things.
He's so imaginative! We're just LOVING this age!

"There's an Op-pu-pus Outside, Mommy."
Tonight I had my Tupperware party and one of the ladies who came brought her daughter who's in 2nd grade. Parker and the little girl, Reagan, were playing out back and all of a sudden Parker ran in straight to me and yelled, "There's an oppupus (octopus) out back, Mommy." I just looked at him in shock but how does he know what an octopus is?!!?!
The octopus lives in the tree out back.
We don't have a tree in our back yard. There are trees across the street behind our house and he sees them from his fort.
But when he shows us where the octopus is, he sometimes points to a (fake) tree in our back yard. Other times he points to the trees across the street.
He still talks about it and reminds us he lives in the tree out back.
I've heard that boys tend to have invisible friends more so than girls do. I remember my cousin, Austin, had a purple cat who was around for quite a while when he was younger.
I'm curious to see how long the octopus sticks around and if he ever gets named!
Picture Update from End of March
We took Parker to feed the ducks.
Parker peed in the potty at school when I went to pick him up.
His reward is ice cream.
Yes, I did the un-motherly thing; I let him eat ice cream in the car.
Can you believe it that he did not make a mess!?!?!?!?
Showin' off his new Cars watch.
He wanted to wear my watches and it made me super nervous.
We invested in a $5 watch at Walmart.
Since then the watch has been watched twice, but he wears it almost every day.

What I learned today...
I am going to work this summer three days a week at Parker's daycare in the office.
I originally thought that I would sub in the classrooms, but then an opportunity came up for me to job share in the front office.
I trained today.
I loved working in the office.
I learned that I don't ever want to work in a daycare class.
Someone was always crying in one room or the other throughout the day.
I can't handle that.
At home when Parker is fussy, we send him to his bed.
Overall is was a good day and I'm anxious to see how my summer goes at Peas In A Pod!

November 7.
I decided this morning that instead of trying to go back and blog about the past 3+ weeks I'm behind on, that I would start with today.
For those of you who haven't heard or seen my pic on facebook, I'm pregnant! Baby Cates #2 will be 10 weeks tomorrow and is due around November 7. I know I need to start my belly pics like we did with Parker and maybe we will soon.
I have been super tired (which is to be expected) and nauseated. Haven't gotten sick so far, but I take Zofran as needed. For about a month I took a nap with Parker on the days we were home, but last week, I had more energy. This weekend was a different story... I caught up on a lot of rest.
Parker is super excited. He told people he was going to be a big sister- he didn't quite understand how he could be a big brother to a baby sister. (All his idea in wanting a sister!! He came up with that on his own.)
Thursday Caleb took off of work and he and Parker hung out while I tended to some real estate stuff. That afternoon we had our first doctors appointment with Dr. Gayle. Parker went with us. At first Parker didn't know what to think of Dr. Gayle, but by the end of the visit, they were big buds. We had our first sonogram and I asked Parker if she saw the baby. He smiled really big and shook his head yes. Now when we ask where mommy's baby is, he says my tummy.
I keep asking him for a name for baby but he doesn't quite understand that we get to pick out a name for the baby. I'm just curious as to what crazy name he would come up with!
I guess this all sums up why I haven't been posting as frequently. Between my job and real estate, the last 3 weeks have been super, super busy on top of being pregnant! I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things on this blogging.

Behind.
I'm so behind on blogging. We've had a lot of great stories of things Parker has said and done. I promise I'll try to get busy with all the updates by the weekend, but we'll see.... I'm pretty sure I say that every week! ha
