"Oh My Gosh"

So last Thursday when we were coming home from San Antonio, Caleb missed the exit we needed. Me and Caleb were talking about it and all of a sudden Parker said, "Oh my gosh! What is going on in here?" Caleb and I just looked at each other and then I turned my head and laughed. We didn't address the issue of him saying "oh my gosh" because I'm pretty sure we were both caught off guard.
Well later that night we were driving into College Station and passed the Easterwood Airport. There was an airplane about to land and Parker said, "oh my gosh that is huge!"
At that point we talked about how "oh my gosh" really isn't necessary and a simple "Wow! That's huge!" would suffice.

Well we hadn't heard anymore "Oh my gosh"'s....
Until this morning.

I was explaining to Parker that this week is his last week at his school. (They won't allow part-time in the fall and we will be gone a bit in July, so there was no need to keep paying for him to go when he wouldn't be going.)
I told him that Ms. Penny (the assistant director who helped open his current school) used to work a long time ago at his new school, Sonshine School, and that she loved it.
He stopped me in my explanation and said, "Where's Ms. Penny now?"
I reminded him that she moved to Florida.
His words exactly.... (I wish you could have heard the fluctuation in his voice)....
"Oh. My. Gosh."

We had another talk about we could choose other words to better express ourselves.

Needless to say, I'm going to stop "oh my goshing" around here.
*Kids are a great accountability partner. Yes, "oh my gosh" isn't so bad, but he's 2 1/2. It's really not necessary at this age. He could have said a lot worse.

First SLEEP OVER in College Station

Tomorrow I am administering the TAKS test in Anderson and Opal was going to keep Parker for me. Tonight we met Opal and the kiddos for dinner at Polly's Cocina. Sebastian suggested that Parker spend the night with them. Parker was so excited and did great! Opal said Parker realized what was going on when it was time to go to bed- he wanted his Mommy! I was honestly shocked he said he wanted me, as he normally wants Caleb!!
He LOVES the Core kids and adores Sebastian!!
Doesn't he look so big here. Our little boy is growing up so quickly!

This is what happens...

when you let your son pee outside...
We were out front.
Parker needed to pee so we allowed him to on the fence.
He came back over to us with no clothes on.
Oh dear. What have we gotten ourselves into?!?!

*But don't you just want to pinch those little cheeks??

On the way home...

Today we left vacation and headed to Sea World. We all three had a blast! The above picture lasted about 3 1/2 minutes and then this is what I noticed....

Such a great week vacationing with family!

Fun Day!

This morning Parker did not wake up until 9:40! He sure knows how to sleep in!!!!
We went to the Kettle to eat breakfast. In all the years Caleb and I have lived here, we've never been. Parker and I tried it out and loved it! It reminded me of places that Granny & Gramps would take me to eat breakfast when we used to travel together.
We had such a good time, I think Parker and I will start a "breakfast club" on Friday mornings and go eat at the Kettle.
We had a few errands to run to prepare for our vacation that we're leaving for on Sunday. One of the errands was to go by Toys R Us to see if they have a Toy Story or Thomas blow up mattress for Parker to sleep on while we are vacationing.
No luck, but of course Parker did eye ball a four wheeler.
When we first got to Toys R Us I told Parker he needed to ride in a buggy. This was hopes to keep him from touching all of the toys. When I put him in he informed me that it was his "work truck." I'm pretty sure he was missing his Daddy because earlier this morning he told me he (Parker) had his work shoes at home. His work shoes are his black tennis shoes- Caleb has black tennis shoes he wears to work.
On the way out, Parker got in the train and wanted his picture taken. Isn't he a cutie!?!?!?
We had such a good morning together! I love spending time with him!!

Nightmare

2 nights ago Parker did not sleep well. He cried out twice and both times woke completely up. We took turns going in to check on him and lay down with him.
I was afraid that his ears were hurting him (knock on wood- no issue since we put tubes in), but we had gone swimming Tuesday and I was worried.
Last night Caleb and I were talking about Parker not sleeping the night before. Caleb had gone in there with him when he cried out at 6:30 and Parker told him a hippo had been chasing him.
So sad.
I wonder where these nightmares originate from?
I know this is normal for him to be doing this, but it's just an odd dream.
Needless to say, last night he slept the whole night so I guess the hippos didn't bother him.

2 more stories for you...

So this afternoon I picked Parker up from school. He did not want any of my water- he wanted coke. Well I needed him to take a bath and eat before gymnastics and VBS so I decided to use the coke to my leverage. I told him if he would take a bath he could have some Cherry Coke (Zero) while he was in the bath. He picked out his cup, I got it all ready and it was on the side of the tub. He took his first sip and said, "MMM that's delicious, Mama." Then a few minutes later he took another sip and said, "MMMM Delicious."

-----
Parker and I were eating dinner and he looked at me and said, "I like your shirt, Mama. It has flowers on it." I told him thank you and then a few minutes later he told me the same thing again. I'm assuming that he really meant it since he told me twice.

He's so sweet and funny!

2 funny stories...

Today Parker and I went swimming with some of our friends at their neighborhood pool. It was a lot of fun! We were out there for a little over 2 hours. Before we went to the pool, I pulled out Parker's new hat I bought for him to swim in. He told me to "put that in my closet til Monday."
Not sure what the significance was with Monday, but obviously he was not interested today. I threw it in our pool bag and when we got there, he pulled it up and said, "hey this is supposed to be in my closet." DUH.

--------

Tonight we were outside and Parker told me, "It's windy. My hairCUT is going to blow away."
I'd like to see how that works! haha

He keeps us laughing. :)

VBS

This week I've been helping my friend, Kelly, at her church with VBS. We are in charge of preschool music. It's been a lot of fun! Parker goes to his little class and he seems to enjoy it. The theme is the Big Apple Adventure and tonight they had the Statue of Liberty set up for you to take pictures. Parker was less than enthused about the picture opportunity that was there.

Water Day @ Peas in a Pod

This morning was Water Day at Parker's School. Parker and I attended and he had a great time! He LOVED the bubbles, paint, chalk and playing with ice. He chowed down on the watermelon and popsicles. We had a great time and we were out there before it got too hot!

Doctor's Appointment ToDaY!

Today we went to the doctor and I'm 18 weeks, 1 day! Everything looked great!!!!!
We had our BIG sonogram today so I drank a bunch of orange juice before hand, to ensure that Baby Cates was active- and it worked!
Caleb and Parker were both able to join me at this special appointment....

And

we

have

a

baby

BOY!

We are so excited. We would have been just as excited if we were having a girl, but we are in sense relieved that we're having another boy. We haved a lot of Parker's clothes, plus we know what to do with boys!
Now we just need to come up with a name! We have one that we both like, Caleb is still researching to make sure that he really likes it more than other names.
So hopefully in the next few days we'll have a name revealing announcement.

Quiet....

On the way to school this morning, Parker was super quiet. He usually talks 90 to nothing in the car, so this was odd to me. I kept asking him if he was okay, what was wrong, all those things.... Finally he said, "I'm just sitting here."
It was drawn out and so matter of fact.
It cracked me up.
It is okay to be quiet at times.
It's actually really nice.
I just wasn't use to it.

Pretty Please, Mommy & Daddy!

This morning on the way to church we went to Shipley's Donuts. Caleb went inside to get our donuts while Parker and I waited in the car. We were going to eat them once we got to church since we were early.
Parker really, really wanted his sprinkle donut.
Like really, really badly.
We had explained to him that we were going to eat them at church so it didn't make a mess.
He sat there for a few minutes.
Then he said, "Pretty please, Mommy & Daddy, with candy on the side."

I turned my head and laughed!
It was so innocent and he was really trying to convince us!

For the record- we ate donuts once we got to church. ;)

Big Milestone for Parker...

Parker has not worn a diaper during the day since last Friday. He's had 1 accident... it was last night after we got home. Apparently we both forgot that he just drank A LOT of Gatorade before we left work/ his school.
I think his teachers have figured out the trick to getting him to use the potty at school- let him go last and one of them has to go in the bathroom with him.
So proud of Parker- Man!

On another note- my stomach grew over night. I look very pregnant now. Monday night it wasn't there and Tuesday afternoon it was! :) :)
So excited to find out what baby is. We think we have come to an agreement on a girls name... still no boy name!
